Get Outside!

While roaming around town and checking out the local shops might more your speed, Mammoth Lakes provides easy access to some of the most beautiful hikes in the Eastern Sierra, including multiple entrance points to the Pacific Crest (PCT) and John Muir (JMT) trails. From the gorgeous views of the Little Lakes Valley to viewing down on the columnar basalt of Devils Postpile, there is no excuse to not enjoy Mother Nature during your visit to the area.

Be Prepared!

  • Know Your Physical Limits & Acclimate to the Altitude
  • Wear Comfortable Hiking or Walking Shoes
  • Carry Plenty of Water & Snacks
  • Beware of Wildlife, Especially Bears & Snakes
  • Bring Maps & Compass

We recommend bringing physicals maps with you when exploring the wilderness areas. They are available for purchase at the Mammoth Lakes Visitor Center and most sporting goods shops.
